visit the most sacred mountain in java; mount mahameru a.k.a semeru

(c) ukirsari

from soe hok gie’s diary:

[in the end, we will reach an ordinary day]

[an ancient greek philosopher wrote … the best men can have is never to be born, number two is about given a birth but die in early age and the worst is old ages. i think so. so be happy to whom already die in their youth …]

[the most precious and essential in this life is about how to love, kindhearted and emphaty towards sadness …]

and from my side, whenever i captured my steps … facing to the mighty mahameru or known as semeru … i would like to say;

finally, we will find an ordinary day. a very plain day — not an emotional day, but something nice which already captured deeply in our hearts. so, there’s nothing surprise or big shock, but it’s following all of our steps through the all days we have.

i love you since i love the bravery in this life

— a very nice poem, please read this, i already translated into english to make it still meaningful even written in other language —

seperti kau terima daku
this evening, whenever sun goes into your valleys
i come again
into your arms, in your silentness and coldness
eventhough anybody speaking about aim and purpose
i talk to you about love and beautifulness
and i accept you in your existence
just like you accept me

i love you, cold and silent pangrango
your river is an eternal song about emptiness
your forests are all mysterious
my love and yours are about the silentness of the universe

this evening whenever coldness and silentness spreading in mandalawangi
you come again
and talk to me about all emptiness
life is about how brave you are in facing all questions
without awaiting any moment to understand nor to bargain
just accept and face them

jurangmu
aku cinta padamu pangrango
karena aku cinta pada keberanian hidup.
and amongst the empty backpacks and the flames of bonfire
i accept all of them beyond the borders of your forests and your valleys
i love you pangrango
since i love the bravery in this life

*more than 30 years ago written by him. an enchanting poem about mount gede – pangrango in bogor – west java, before he climb up mount semeru in east java and passed away nearby its peak in december 16th, 1969. you’ll be missed by everyone who love you, gie!
